This report highlights the results of research and extensive consultation undertaken in the retail industry throughout 2007 and 2008. In particular, the report provides the findings from three specific elements. The first is the ‘Proud to be Retail’ concept – the development of a strategy to address issues being faced by the industry. The second element explores a ‘Recruitment and Profiling Tool’ (including Personal Attributes). The third element deals with delicatessen managers and middle managers, and the need for customization/addition of qualifications. This final report presents the overall findings and key recommendations from each element and provides strategies to address skills needs.
