This report outlines the work undertaken following the development of the ‘Proud to be Retail’ concept and its associated ‘Star Retailer’ program (which did not obtain industry or employer support). The objective was to determine what strategy would be most suitable to address the range of issues being faced by the retail industry, and to determine how such a strategy should be implemented. The report outlines areas requiring addressing in order to strategically manage the labour and skills shortage in the retail industry. Key recommendations to enable a strategic response to the skills and labour shortage being experienced in the industry are presented.
