(Sept 2007)

This report highlights the lack of a coordinated mechanism to process the increase in applicants and enquiries and proposes the introduction of a framework which addresses the mismatch between the skills available and the skills required. The first part describes the development of a skills matching service for mining and resources and related industries. The second part deals with the policy challenges and opportunities for the relevant industries in WA and nationally. A six point plan is outlined which describes how to address the fundamental issues faced by the industry. A series of recommendations are provided, outlining a package of approaches that are required.
