This proposal examines the Try-A-Trade program, an initiative developed to increase interest in trade occupations by providing potential applicants with the opportunity to “have a hands on go” at various tasks associated with particular occupations or skill areas. Due to the significant increase in Try-A-Trade activity by a variety of organisations, it is important to assess the program’s potential to expand its level of participation and maximize the impact and ownership of the initiative. It is proposed to assess support for the program, outline critical components, identify additional resources/processes required, explore potential connections/links, and provide options for improving the effectiveness of the program.
